The Warwick District branch began as an idea when 3 or 4 Warwick based members were having a chat after a “Bikes for a Brighter Future” ride and the possibility of forming a local branch was suggested. An advertisement was placed in a local paper inviting members of the club to an informal meeting to discuss the possibility of forming a branch locally.
The inaugural meeting was held on 16th November 2007 as a result of the advertisement and after considerable discussion a motion was put and carried that we should commence the formal procedure of forming a branch locally and an interim committee was appointed to pursue the formalities, Dennis King as President, Bill Doran as Secretary and Pat Gardner as Treasurer along with 3 other committee persons.
Aware that the National committee were due to meet the next week, all of the necessary documentation was prepared and submitted in time for consideration and on the 24th November 2007 the National Committee formally sanctioned the formation of the 138th branch of the Club.
